The Fallon clan lived in Athlone, where they had a castle until about 1650, and in Ballinasloe, just west of Athlone.

Almost all of our Irish ancestors all came from the River Shannon region in central-west Ireland. The Brittons were from Tipperary; the Cunninghams from Galway; the Fallons from Athlone; the Gormans from Thurles; the McFarlanes (or McPartlins) from Lough Rynn; the Magraths from Clonoulty; the Monochans from Mohill; the Morgans from Limerick; and the Sheehans from Callan. The distance from Mohill to Tipperary is only about 150 km (100 miles).
